The 3rd XI last game of the season on the 3G pitch at Ballyhornan against Celtic Boys proved to be a high scoring affair.
The visitors took the lead in the first minute when Boyle shot home. The lead was short lived as the home team equalised 3 minutes later after a neat one-two. The saints regained the lead when King scored with a left foot shot from 18 yards and Brown increased the lead with a header from a King corner for his first goal of the season. The home side came back again with a good finish past Young in goals.
Back came the Saints and Boyle netted his second after good work by Martin and Lennon but again Celtic fought back and equalised after poor marking at a free kick to leave the half time score 4-3 to the visitors.
The second half was more sedate and 20 minutes in the Saints seemed to have secured the win with a fifth goal. Ross won the ball in his own half and fed Martin who put Boyle through on goal. The keeper made a brave save at the strikers feet but Ross who had followed up slotted home for his first goal of the season.
Celtic stormed back and brought the score back to 5-5 with 2 goals from set pieces as the game entered its final stages.
However the Saints did secure the points with 2 minutes left when Clarke fed Barr and he hammered the ball home to seal a deserved 3 points.
